Welcome back friends!
Today I wanted to share with you our small bathroom remodel located in the upstairs bonus room. Currently, the bonus room is more of a playroom slash media room for our kids. We were wanting to also turn it into more of a guest suite so our out of town guests would have a private space of their own. Hopefully, our guests also don’t mind sharing their bedroom with our girls’ toys and art supplies because those aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. With the bathroom complete, the bonus room is now a sudo playroom-media room-guest room. It’s basically the Neapolitan ice cream of bonus rooms.
Sadly, I did not take any before pictures of the bathroom since I wasn’t anticipating starting a blog at the time. I know you were hoping for some mind blowing before and after pictures (or maybe not), so in lieu of the before pictures, how about I insert some entertaining gifs?
First one…me mourning over the lack of my before pictures.
On the bright side, I have the after pictures as well as the rundown of how we came up with the layout of our remodel.
Let’s get started with the tour.
Above is our new shower which was not in the original bathroom. In fact we didn’t even have a shower in the former bathroom. There was a vanity with sink and mirror located where the current shower is. Below is the exact same vanity as the one we had here previously, just to give you an idea of what it used to look like.
I bet you’re wondering where our sink went since we replaced it with the shower. We had a small corner space next to the door where we were able to fit a small sink, mirror, and a vanity light.
To end this blog, I wanted to quickly talk about the pink paint I chose. My favorite color has been pink since I was a little girl. Pink and I had a few years there where we drifted apart, entirely on my behalf. I repressed my love for pink in junior high and high school because I felt I wouldn’t be cool if I wore it. Sadly I didn’t know back then that not wearing pink actually didn’t help my cool factor whatsoever. Now as a woman in my thirties I am confident enough to express my love for pink again. She has forgiven me for neglecting her all those years and has wrapped her loving arms around my bathroom walls in the form of Sherwin Williams Blushing. (Why am I talking about pink like she’s a person? Oops, I did it again…well now that sounds like Brittney Spears…Let’s just move on.)
I love a pop of color in a small bathroom. Bright vibrant colors that make a statement are tricky to do in a large room, but you can get away with almost anything in a tiny room. I just love my pink paint! Here is one more gif to show my love for pink and to apologize for my not having any before photos…
If you ever think of remodeling a small bathroom my advice would be to measure, measure, and measure because you’d be surprised how much can actually fit in a small space. We weren’t sure if we could put a shower in place of a vanity, but now we realize we actually could have installed an even larger shower.
I hope you enjoyed reading about our bathroom remodel. Perhaps you may find some inspiration for your own home improvements, or at the very least found my gifs mildly entertaining.
